About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Leeds United secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in their Premier League clash at Elland Road on Friday. The win was a testament to Leeds' attacking prowess and tactical discipline, as they dominated the game from the outset. This result was somewhat expected given Leeds' recent form, having entered the match with a strong run of performances. The match began with Leeds United taking control early on, and they were rewarded in the 26th minute when Jayden Bogle (GAP -1.4%) found the back of the net. Just four minutes later, Noah Okafor (GAP +0.2%) doubled the lead, putting Leeds in a commanding position before halftime. The second half saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin (GAP +3.0%) extend the lead further in the 49th minute, effectively sealing the victory for the home side. Nottingham Forest managed to pull one back late in the game through Lorenzo Lucca in the 86th minute, but it was too little, too late. Tactically, Leeds United's manager made a single change to the starting lineup, bringing in Noah Okafor for Anton Stach, which paid dividends as Okafor contributed significantly to the team's attacking efforts. Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, made three changes, introducing Stefan Ortega, Morato, and Zach Abbott, while Matz Sels, Neco Williams, and Murillo were left out. The reasons for these changes were not specified in the post-match reports. Stefan Ortega (GAP +4.0%) was a standout performer for Nottingham Forest despite the loss, making several crucial saves to keep the scoreline respectable. However, Leeds' dominance in midfield and attack, led by Calvert-Lewin and Okafor, proved too much for the visitors. This victory sees Leeds United solidify their position in the mid-table, continuing their upward trajectory with another three points. Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, will need to regroup and address their defensive frailties as they look to improve their standing in the league. Post-match reactions highlighted Leeds' clinical finishing and tactical execution, with fans and pundits alike praising their performance. The result leaves Leeds in a positive position as they look to build momentum in the coming fixtures.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
